Telehealth brings instant medical care to some Horry County schools
LORIS, SC (WBTW) – Students can now receive instant care when they get sick at school without physically going to a doctor’s office. New Telehealth services are being rolled out to some Horry County schools, linking a physician directly to the nurse’s office through video conferencing.
CareSouth Carolina Providing Remote Patient Visits Through Telehealth
CareSouth Carolina is providing telehealth visits for its patients as a way to promote social distancing and help fight the spread of COVID-19.
Patients who would desire a regularly-scheduled follow-up appointment or wellness check-up can call the CareSouth Carolina Telehealth Triage Center at 843-309-8102, which is staffed by RNs and LPNs. The nurse will talk with the patient, decide if a telehealth (remote video chat) visit is appropriate and will schedule the patient a time to meet with their primary care provider, typically the same day.
With 210 new coronavirus patients, SC records 1,293 total cases and 26 deaths
South Carolina officials recorded hundreds more positive coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to 1,293 and 26 deaths. The numbers include 210 new positive test results, more than the state has announced in a single day since recording its first case on March 6. Forty-eight of the newly identified patients live in Charleston County, according to the Department of Health and Environmental Control.

“Family Health Centers, Inc. confirmed the first cases of 2020 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in two employees. Testing confirmed this diagnosis. The individuals are in good condition and are isolated to prevent spread of infection to others. We are hopeful the individuals will have a rapid and full recovery,” Family Health Centers said in a release.
